Current Term December 2020 - December 2024

Councilmember Peralta immigrated to the United States from Mexico and settled in the City of Montebello where she was raised by her mother and aunts in a humble working-class household.

Councilmember Peralta was educated in the Montebello Unified School District and after graduating from Schurr High School she attended the University of California at Santa Barbara, becoming the first in her family to complete college and receive her bachelor’s degree in Global Studies.

In 2017, Councilmember Peralta received a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the University of California, Irvine and continued to develop her skills in policy analysis and project management by working as a research analyst at El Centro de Investigación y Docencias Económicas in Mexico City. She continued her advocacy work as a program manager in the nonprofit sector, developing and managing programs for working families throughout South East Los Angeles. Her work expanded to voter empowerment and civic education.  As a current Community Outreach Director she is active in political organizing, directing outreach operations for campaigns and social justice initiatives.

For the past 10 years she has volunteered with the Mexican American Opportunity Fund, the Montebello YMCA, and resident-led groups such as Hearts of Compassion to give back to her community. Developing and inspiring the next generation of leaders in Montebello is her focus.  Having served as a mentor for Montebello’s College Bound Today Program, she’s worked with students and their families in the local school district to help them attain higher education goals. She is a Co-Founder of Schurr High School's AVID Alumni Fund, which raises scholarship funds for college-bound seniors.
