Citizen of the Month

Objective

To shine a spotlight on remarkable individuals and/or businesses in the community who reflect the essence of what it means to live, work, and give back to Montebello. Their commitment to collaboration, compassion, and community reminds us that we all have unique opportunities to positively influence the world.

 


Requirements

  • Must be a Montebello resident, business owner, local volunteer, or an employee of a Montebello business
  • Age 14 years or older (high school age and above)
  • Demonstrates outstanding service that has benefited the City of Montebello or its residents
  • Demonstrates that a significant amount of time and personal resources has been invested for the benefit of the community
  • Demonstrates a positive impact, influence, or outcome on the lives of others in and around Montebello


Nomination & Submission
Applicants may nominate themselves or another individual. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed every month. Nominees may carry over and be considered the following month if no or few nominations are received. If no nominations are received or the nominee declines, no awardee will be named for that month. All nominations must contain sufficient details to be considered. The City reserves the right to reject nomination forms due to a lack of information or may request additional details from the nominating party for committee consideration.

Selection Process

Recipients of the award are determined by a selection committee:

  • Montebello Chamber of Commerce
  • The Shops at Montebello
  • Montebello Reporter
  • The Lions Club of Montebello
  • Montebello Rotary Club
  • Montebello Soroptimist

This committee meets on the first Monday of each month to review submitted nominations. The City reserves the right to confirm the accuracy of the information in all nomination forms.

An awardee is chosen based on a majority vote of the committee.



Winner Recognition

Winners will be notified via email and phone and formally acknowledged with a certificate, award plaque, brief public ceremony, and donated gifts at the first City Council meeting of the month.



The City would like to thank and acknowledge the generosity of our committee partners for their time and gift donations. Montebello's Citizen of the Month program is a community effort and highlights positivity across Montebello.
