Your Selflessness Will Never Be Forgotten!

We would like to recognize those members of our police department who have served and are currently serving in the military. Their selflessness will never be forgotten.

Sergeant Miranda served in the United States Air Force. Upon his release from active duty, he was transferred to the Air Force Reserve. His Military Occupational Specialty was Fire Rescue. He received the following medals and commendations, Air Force Special Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, and Air Force Training Ribbon.

Sergeant Camuy served in the United States Marine Corps. His Primary Military Occupational Specialty was Antitank Assaultman. He received the following medals and commendations, Rifle Express Badge, Pistol Marksmanship Badge, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal (with star), National Defense Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, and Joint Meritorious Unit Award. Upon release from active duty, he was assigned to the Marine Corps Reserves.

Sergeant Mitchell served in the United States Army. After completing Basic Combat Training, he graduated from Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, Georgia, and received his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. Mitchell then attended Infantry Officer Leadership Course and was assigned to 1-160TH IN BN (California National Guard). Mitchell worked as a Platoon Leader, Battalion Operations & Training Officer, Executive Officer, and acting Company Commander. During his service, Mitchell was assigned to the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany, where he worked with other nations' military forces. His unit was also activated during the California State of Emergency to fight wildland fires in 2016.

Corporal B. Contreras served in the United States Army with a Primary Military Occupational Specialty as an Infantryman, and completed three tours of duty. He was honorably discharged and attained the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the following medals and commendations, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service ribbon, and Combat Infantryman Badge.

Corporal D. Contreras served in the United States Marine Corps. His Primary Military Occupational Specialty was Field Radio Operator. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant as a Chief Field Radio Operator. He was awarded the following medals and commendations, Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, Combat Action Ribbon, and a War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.

Detective Fivecoat served in the Army National Guard as a Field Artillery Fire Finder Radar Operator. He received the following medals and commendations, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device, Global War on Terrorism, Service Medal in Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.

Dispatcher Medina served in the United States Army Reserve. She served on active duty for one year and then returned to reserve status after one year. She served as a Record Telecommunications Operator and received the following medals and commendations, National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.

Officer Rodriguez enlisted in the Army Senior Officers Training Corps (ROTC) at the University of California Los Angeles Department of Military Science, where he graduated. He was promoted to the rank of 2nd lieutenant and later attended Military Police Basic Officer Leadership Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He's currently assigned to the 11th military police brigade headquarters and headquarters company as an Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection Officer/Operation Staff Officer at the Joint Forces Training Base Los Alamitos, California. Officer Rodriguez has received the National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon and is still serving in the United States Army Reserve.

Officer Ramirez-Nunez is currently serving in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. As an Aviation Ordnance Systems Technician, he's a Corporal assigned to the Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 41 at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California.
