Tornado Recovery

In the aftermath of the tornado damage caused in south Montebello on March 22, 2023, the City of Montebello has partnered collaboratively with our LA County, State of California and other agencies in a unified taskforce offering information and assistance resources to business owners and employees affected by this weather event.

Eligible applicants may go to a temporary SBA office located in Monterey Park for assistance in applying and filing for a loan:

Applicants can apply online, receive additional disaster assistance information, and download applications at https://disasterloanassistance.sba.gov/. Applicants may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email [email protected] for more information on SBA disaster assistance. Anyone requiring hearing assistance may call 7-1-1.

LA County Office of Immigrant Affairs: 
The Los Angeles County Office of Immigrant Affairs helps all immigrants learn about available services for them and their families. These are some of the services they can connect you to: Landlord/tenant disputes and foreclosure prevention, wage disputes and small business support, food security and nutrition, and immigration legal representation and public charge concerns.

California’s Low Cost Auto (CLCA) Insurance program helps good drivers that are income eligible afford auto insurance that meets the state’s financial responsibility laws.

City of Montebello- Community Development and Building
Montebello Building Inspectors are working closely with all impacted building owners on business recovery efforts and building engineering and expedited permit needs on a case-by-case basis. Air Quality Management District (AQMD)
South Coast AQMD offers a broad range of programs for businesses, the community, and local government that offer financial incentives for implementing new clean air technologies.

East Los Angeles AJCC: 
Services for job seekers including no-cost jo training assistance and opportunities for specialized populations.

Employment Development Department (EDD) Workforce Services:
Provides food assistance to families, older adults and other individuals at community and senior centers including select congregate meal sites through the Emergency Food Assistance Program.

EDD Unemployment Insurance: 
The Unemployment Insurance program pays benefits to workers who have lost their job and meet the program’s eligibility requirements. 

Covered California: 
Helps individuals and families obtain health coverage that includes the minimum essential benefits required by the law.
