Vacant Property Registration

Vacant buildings can be a source of blight in both residential and non-residential neighborhoods, especially if these buildings are not properly maintained. Even one vacant building which is not actively maintained and managed can become a burden to the community, becoming the core and cause of spreading blight. The City of Montebello now requires that vacant properties be registered with the Code Enforcement Division so that we may work in partnership with property owners to ensure our City's standards are met and maintained.

Please check out Ordinance 2329 for more information.

If the property is vacant or abandoned, the beneficiary/trustee shall register the property with the City of Montebello within (10) days of a transfer, vacancy, or subsequent vacancy. The following annual registration fees are due April 1st of each year and must be received no later than April 30 of the year due:

- Vacant Property Registration Application Filled

- Annual Fee registration: $120.00

If a property is no longer vacant, please fill out the "Vacant Property De-Registration Form" found below. Please read instructions CAREFULLY and provide all paperwork necessary in order to de-register property. Please email information to [email protected] or mail to:
